Seasonal Splendor: Winter Delights in Ayrshire

The darker nights are drawing in, there’s a chill (and a touch of magic) on the air, and everyone’s thinking of turkey and trimmings – Christmas approaches and Ayrshire is an incredible place to spend it.

If you’re visiting Troon this Christmas, we’ve picked out a few of the great restaurants and bars around the Salt Lodge Hotel’s Troon home that are perfect for enjoying a Christmas break. Whether you’re enjoying a classy cocktail between bouts of present picking, getting away from the winter wind and refuelling with a delicious lunch, or booking in for an epic Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, Ayrshire has you covered!

Take a look at just a few of the winter warmers, Christmas crackers, and magical moments that await you in Ayrshire this festive season.

Enjoy a festive feast at Scotts at Troon Yacht Haven

Here at the Salt Lodge Hotel, we’re blessed with neighbours who know a thing or two about fantastic food. With a menu that changes to reflect the best produce of the season, a wine list that would impress even the most-seasoned sommelier, and a cocktail menu inspired by some of the world’s top bars, things are always ship-shape at Scott’s. Perched just next door, it’s the perfect place to for a festive feast. With panoramic views overlooking the Troon harbour, Ailsa Craig and Isle of Arran, the sights are a Christmas gift themselves!

Go wild at a Hogmanay hootenanny at The Tree House in Ayr

Light, bright and bang in the centre of Ayr – The Tree House is the perfect place to bring in the bells with a New Year feast. This year, the team are offering guests the chance to bid a fond farewell to 2019 with three delicious courses and prosecco for the countdown to the bells. For those with more of a liquid appetite (it’s Hogmanay, after all!), The Tree House offers a fantastic drinks menu – including some of incredible local tipples, from artisan gins to craft beer and malts.

Pause the present shopping at Lido Troon

We’ve all been there. You’ve been barged out of the way by numerous frazzled fellow shoppers, endured your 50th refrain of White Christmas over tinny store speakers, and still can’t figure out what to get Aunt Margaret other than another set of slippers. You need a break. Welcome to Lido, where the cool, calm and continental vibes will leave you feeling laid back faster than you can say ‘tinsel.’ With a menu featuring simple, delicious dishes with a subtle Mediterranean influence, lunch here is the perfect antidote to the excesses of the festive season.

Whimsical wonders at Troon Wintertainment

A family-fun town event where wonder a merriment collide in a festival of colour, music and festivities! Get your spot to enjoy the Town Parade and look out for a visit from the ever-popular Mrs Claus. Events also take place in church halls throughout town raising money for the Troon RNLI Lifeboat, plus there’s the magical town beacon and Christmas lights. An event not to be missed this winter!

Find a festive home-away-from-home at Vic’s and The Vine in Prestwick

We’re all looking for a wee slice of home – especially during the silly season. You’ll find it here. At Vic’s, brewery-fresh tank beer, proper toasties, live music and all manner of sport combine to create a classically laid back bar with some truly contemporary touches. Just next door, The Vine is all about perfectly poured drinks, delicious world flavours, and a friendly welcome. Whatever you’re looking for, it’s just a few steps away in Ayrshire.
